As night neared, hundreds of Gresham residents explored the newest farmers market to come to the community — discovering more than local vendors showcasing the best local produce and handcrafted goods.
The Gresham Station Twilight Market kicked off the season with its inaugural market Wednesday, June 5, in the parking lot at the Gresham Station Shopping Center, 649 N.W. 12th St. The event is helmed by the Gresham Farmers Market, which hosts the popular Saturday festivities downtown.
But the minds behind the evening market wanted to provide an opportunity to partake in farmers market fun for those who normally can't make it on the weekend.
"We're really looking forward to providing the community a mid-week opportunity to buy locally grown food and offering them a full farmers-market experience," said Jon Berlin, market manager.
The first Twilight Market had items available including flowers, soaps, original artwork, meat, dog treats, jewelry, produce, berries, baked goods and more. Downtown Gresham's Hoppy Brewer was pouring beers, while Schmizza Public House distributed free samples of its pizza.
The market also had plenty of family-friendly activities including live music, art demonstrations and a Disney princess. Future market plans include amenities like a petting zoo.
The market is made possible through a partnership with Harsch Investment Properties, which acquired Gresham Station Shopping Center in September 2018. There is plenty of free parking at the site, and the MAX Blue Line has two stops nearby.
The Twilight Market will run from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 28.
