Gresham's free program includes recreation, lunch, engaging science, theme days and more

PMG FILE PHOTO - Summer Kids in the Park (SKIP) happens in three local parks and is for kiddos 18 years old and younger.  The city of Gresham's free summer program for kids kicks off Monday, June 24, and will feed and entertain children all season.

Summer Kids in the Park (SKIP) runs Monday through Friday, June 24, through Aug. 16, at three local parks and is for youths 18 years old and younger.

SKIP will provide kids with recreation, fun activities and a free sack lunch.

Boys & Girls Clubs provide the daily activities, which might include art, science experiments, nature days and special themed days.

The program doesn't require registration and children can come as often as they like. Lunch is served at the start of each daily session.

Parents and guardians should stay in the park while children are participating. SKIP is not meant to be a drop-off program.

Older kids can attend on their own.

Enjoy SKIP at Main City Park, 219 S. Main Ave., from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The fun at Red Sunset Park, 2403 N.E. Red Sunset Drive, happens between 12:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

Rockwood Central Park, 17707 S.E. Main St., offers up lunch and activities between 11:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.
