If it's Monday, there must be music
Gresham's popular Music Mondays summer concert series continued this week as Rich Layton & Tough Town jammed out on stage, Monday evening, July 8.
The popular Texas honkytonk band brought a little country, blues and American roots music to downtown, as part of the free concert series that runs weekly at the Gresham Arts Plaza, 401 N.E. Second St.
Those who missed the latest Music Monday act have plenty of upcoming opportunities. The concerts are held Monday evenings, from 6:30-8 p.m. Those who attend are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets, and a picnic to enjoy a summer evening of live music.
There are lots of great groups and performances scheduled for the Music Mondays concert series this year.
Some of the upcoming lineups include:
-- July 15: Remedy — classic rock, jazz, funk and croon music from the 70's, 80's and 90's
-- July 22: Shani Rose — contemporary sounds, soulful and heartfelt with catchy lyrics and melodies
-- July 29: Son of Trees — Latin rhythms, cha-cha to rumba, with classics from Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil
-- Aug. 5: True North —Bluegrass and traditional folk
