Many free family movie screenings are planned across East Multnomah County this summer

This summer there are plenty of opportunities to catch a film outside at one of several local venues hosting free screenings.

Upcoming movies include:

-- On Thursday, Aug. 1, McMenamins Edgefield, 2126 S.W. Halsey St. will show Incredibles 2 through its Outdoor Movies series. The screening should begin around 9:30 p.m. following the live music at the Little Red Shed. Minors can attend with a parent or guardian.

-- At 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, Pictures in the Park will kick of the 2019 season in Gresham with a screening of "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" in the Gresham Arts Plaza, 488 N.E. Third Street. The weekly event is hosted by Gospel for Gresham.

-- At 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, Movies on the Lawn at Wood Village Baptist Church, 23601 N.E. Arata Road, will show "Ralph Breaks the Internet."

-- On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Fairview's Flicks in the Park will offer a spoonful of sugar with a screening of "Mary Poppins Returns" at Fairview Community Park, 21600 N.E. Park Lane. The movie will begin at dusk. Contact Devree Leymaster at 503-674-6224 with any questions.

-- At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, Troutdale will also show "Mary Poppins Returns" at Imagination Station, 1900 S.W. Cherry Park Road. The movie was selected through a community vote, and concessions will be available for purchase. Though it will still be daylight, a giant LED video wall allow visitors to enjoy the film.
