The search began around 6:30 p.m. as emergency responders from across the region arrived to the scene. According to reports, the missing man was swimming with a friend. Despite efforts from multiple agencies, the lost swimmer is still missing. The search was suspended until Tuesday morning because of the setting sun and loss of light.

Those involved in the search included Oregon Parks and Recreation, Corbett Fire, Gresham Fire & Emergency Services, Port of Portland, Trauma Intervention Program and the MCSO River Patrol.

August is Outdoor Safety Month and the MCSO reminds everyone to be safe while boating or swimming. Wear a personal flotation device when you are in or around the water.
