Gresham's annual CityFest showcases services offered by local government through fun afternoon

PMG FILE PHOTO - Greshams annual CityFest celebration both showcases city services and provides many fun activities for families. Swing by Gresham City Hall next weekend for a family-friendly event that showcases the many services provided by the city and the people working behind the scenes to keep everything functioning.

The fourth annual CityFest 2019 will run from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, rain or shine, at Gresham City Hall, 1333 N.W. Eastman Parkway. At times parking can be tight, but it is only a short jaunt from the ample spaces at Gresham Station Shopping Center.

Some of the highlights of the event include live demonstrations from Police and Fire, interactive games with city staff, crafts for the whole family, and local food and refreshments.

All of the departments will have something to showcase. Check out the big rigs used by transportation personnel, paint city snow plows with the Gresham Mural team, go on mini ridealongs with Gresham Police officers, watch the K-9 police dog unit in action at 3 p.m., snag a free emergency 3-gallon water bottle, explore the Block Party Trailer, take on a bike obstacle course and much more.

In addition to fun in the main parking lot, there will also be a special "Passport Day," where people can apply for or renew passports at the city from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
