Early Wednesday morning crash closes westbound lanes of freeway between 207th and 181st avenues

COURTESY PHOTO: KOIN 6 NEWS - Traffic on Interstate 84 was squeezed to one lane Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, after a pedestrian was killed on the highway nearly 207th Avenue.A fatal crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian near Fairview on Wednesday morning closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 between 207th and 181st avenues.

A pedestrian was reported walking on the side of the freeway around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. A few minutes later the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and died on the scene from their injuries, said Sgt. Brandon White, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, the sheriff's office said. Emergency crews are on the scene.

One westbound lane of I-84 reopened around 8:30 a.m., with additional traffic being diverted from 207th Avenue to Sandy Boulevard to 181st Avenue back to the freeway.
