Gresham-Barlow redraws school boundaries, schedules forums
The Gresham-Barlow School District has started the process of redrawing school boundary lines for elementary, middle and high schools.
West Gresham Elementary School is scheduled to close at the end of this school year and new construction has added capacity to several schools, so rearranging who goes to which school is necessary.
A community committee made up of parents, principals and district administrators has already started meeting and will meet weekly until mid-November.
Open houses to gather additional community feedback and discuss the issues are scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Tuesday, Nov. 5, at North Gresham Elementary School, 1001 S.E. 217th Ave.
The district surveyed 350 families about school boundaries in the spring of 2019.
The community committee will make a recommendation to the superintendent on or before the last community committee meeting, which is scheduled for Nov. 19.
