Two arrested in connection with theft of construction equipment
Two men have been arrested by the Gresham Police Department in connection to almost $80,000 worth of construction equipment stolen from a local church's parking lot.
Gabriel Deere, 43, of Gresham, was arrested by officers Tuesday evening, Nov. 5, and Michael Schroeder, 40, of Mulino, was arrested Wednesday evening, Nov. 6.
Officers credit tips from community members as a big help in finding the suspects.
Both men face two counts of aggravated theft.
The investigation began after a pair of men were caught on surveillance footage loading up trucks Saturday evening, Oct. 26, with equipment being used at Rise City Church, 1220 N.E. Kelly Ave., in the former Skate World building.
With help from the from public, police recovered some of the missing equipment. They found a John Deere vehicle in Estacada and a mini excavator in Woodburn.
Both have been returned to the owner.
