Register for Troutdale winter recreation programs

The city of Troutdale's Recreation Department offers plenty of options to exercise your body and mind throughout the winter. Here are some highlights of this season's programs:

-- Kinder programs: Help your kids get the wiggles out through movement, dance and yoga.

-- Taekwondo: Learn self-defense while getting both an aerobic and anaerobic workout.

-- Drop-in basketball: Hit the court in this no-registration program.

-- Tai Chi: Eliminate stagnation in your body while boosting balance, energy and lung capacity.

-- Yoga: Increase flexibility, strength and inner peace through a variety of easy-to-follow styles.

In addition to these programs, the department has partnered with Anytime Fitness at 26940 S.E. Stark St., to try out a few classes at their new facility without a membership commitment. Also new is Stroller Strides, a total-body workout for moms and dads with kids in tow.

The city's Recreation Guide includes information on community events as well as a list of city facilities, swimming pool options, and activities through the Troutdale branch of the Multnomah County Library.

Registration for programs is open and everyone — including non-Troutdale residents — is welcome. Family discounts are available for all programs.
