Detectives arrest Alfredo Guzman, who allegedly entered a resident's home and attacked her with her children present

COURTESY PHOTO: MCSO  - ALFREDO GUZMAN A man was arrested Sunday in Wood Village after a resident reported a stranger broke into her house and sexually assaulted her while her young children were home.

Alfredo Guzman, 24, was taken into custody without incident on Sunday morning, Jan. 19. He faces 27 counts related to sexual assault and burglary, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office reported on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, MCSO patrol deputies were dispatched to a 911 call from a Wood Village residence. Deputies responded to a residence in the 22900 Block of Northeast Halsey Street and contacted a woman who reported that a stranger broke into her home and sexually assaulted her. The man left the residence before deputies arrived.

Deputies searched the area for the suspect with the help of a police K9 unit. Based on the description provided by the victim, deputies located the suspect outside a nearby apartment complex approximately three hours later.

Detectives learned Guzman, a stranger, entered through an unlocked door. They also learned the woman's young children were present in the home when the incident occurred.

Guzman faces a total of 27 counts on crimes including: first-degree sex abuse, attempted first-degree sex abuse, attempted third-degree sex abuse, attempted rape, first-degree unlawful penetration, attempted sodomy, first-degree strangulation, unlawful contact with a child, encouraging child sex abuse, endangering a minor, coercion, first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary and first-degree trespass.
