ODOT crews continue cleanup and repairs after a Jan. 28 slide on the Historic Columbia River Highway between Multnomah Falls and Angel's Rest.

UPDATE: The Historic Columbia River Highway will remain closed until Tuesday afternoon between Multnomah Falls and Angel's Rest while ODOT completes repairs to a culvert damaged in a Jan. 28 slide.

On Monday, ODOT discovered extensive damage to the culvert inlet and new pieces are needed to complete the repairs.

"We have everything cleaned out and prepped and expect the new pieces Tuesday morning with re-opening by early Tuesday afternoon," said Don Hamilton, an ODOT spokesman. "Because of the excavation needed to prepare the site we're going to keep the old highway closed overnight."

The cleanup involved clearing out a culvert choked by last week's slide. ODOT initially planned to reopen the highway Monday afternoon, but that was before discovering the damage to the culvert.
