Civic neighborhood project progresses
The big, high-density apartment and retail complex going up in the Civic Neighborhood of Gresham is moving along and is on schedule to open in late 2021, as planned.
Alta Civic Station will have 318 apartments, a mix of studio to three-bedroom units, plus commercial space. Located just north of the MAX station, on the west side of Northwest Civic Drive, it sits on 7.4 acres, land formerly owned by Metro regional government.
The project has eight buildings and will feature a 21,000 square-foot publicly-accessible plaza. There will also be a playground and outdoor dining spaces for the restaurants expected to open in the retail spaces.
Metro sold the site to Atlanta-based Wood Partners for $1,000 with the understanding that the development would be high density.
The project was designed by Portland's YBA Architects, who also designed the Downtown Rockwood project in Gresham.
Another large project is planned for south of the MAX station, but that development has not yet been finalized.
