COURTESY PHOTO: KOIN 6 NEWS - A medical incident caused a driver to crash their car into Gresham City Hall. Two city of Gresham employees narrowly avoided a car that crashed through the wall at City Hall Tuesday afternoon, Sep. 22.

Around 3 p.m. a driver went over the sidewalk and smashed through the wall leading into the city permit center. Two women were working in the office, a city official said. One happened to be up by the copy machine and avoided the car as it crashed into her desk. The other employee was able to quickly duck under her desk and avoid injuries from flying debris.

According to the city, the driver suffered a medical incident that led to the crash. They were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash left major damage to the outside and interior of City Hall. Construction crews have been working to clear away the debris and properly assess the damage.
