Riverside Fire has not increased in size
The Riverside Fire has remained stable in size this week, spanning 138,029 acres.
As of Wednesday, Sept. 30, the fire near Estacada is 37% contained and 526 personnel are working to contain the flames.
A news release from the incident management team stated that the fire perimeters on both the Riverside and Beachie Creek fires total approximately 800 miles in length, which is equivalent to the distance of the drive between Portland and Salt Lake City.
"(Today) heavy equipment work continues along roads with chippers and masticators to improve existing containment and contingency fire lines on the south and west side of the fire. The northeastern portion of the fire will be monitored by air," the press release stated.
Officials said fire growth is not expected because of recent precipitation. Some smoke from the fire is expected to be visible, and large logs will continue to retain heat. Smoke from California wildfires might impact the area today.
Evacuation orders for the city of Estacada and several nearby areas have been lifted. For more information, click here.
