TriMet to complete repairs to only wooden trestle in system in East Multnomah County

COURTESY PHOTO: TRIMET - Repairs will be made to the Fairview Creek trestle this week.A year after signal and communication improvements began along Gresham's portion of the MAX Blue Line, TriMet will wrap up the project this week.

The final step is repairing a wooden trestle and making improvements to the rail crossing at Northwest Eastman Parkway. The Blue Line will be disrupted through Saturday, Oct. 17, as new signal equipment is tied to the trackway. During the disruption, shuttle buses will serve stations between Rockwood/East 188th Avenue and Cleveland Avenue.

The shutdown will allow crews to repair an old trestle over Fairview Creek that has been neglected for decades. Work can only be done when trains aren't moving in the area.

Crews will make structural upgrades to extend the trestle's life cycle with new wooden supports. The repairs will allow for a smoother ride.
