COVID support available for businesses
More financial support is available for eligible businesses across the country as everyone continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The second round of the HartBeat of Main Street Grant Program will open Thursday morning, Oct. 22, to small businesses with a brick-and-mortar presence.
Grants of $5,000 and $15,000 will be awarded on a competitive and first-come, first-served basis. A minimum of 50% of grants will benefit diverse-owned businesses — including minority, woman, veteran, disabled, and LGBTQ-owned.
Applications for the second round of the HartBeat of Main Street open at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, and runs through 4:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. A link to the application will be posted online at https://bit.ly/2HdVcGZ Thursday morning — you can visit beforehand to see what will be needed.
The funds can be used for physical improvements needed to meet COVID-19 restrictions; safety equipment like touchless payment methods, automatic door sensors or disposable menus; fees associated with expanding business to e-commerce sales; rent, payroll and other operating expenses; and more.
Eligible businesses must:
- Have a physical location that operates in an older or historic main street, downtown or commercial district
- Employ 20 or fewer fulltime employees, including the owner
- Have been in operation since Jan. 1, 2019
- Have an owner who is 18 years or older
