5,000 pairs to be distributed Saturday morning, Oct. 24, out of the old Lane Bryant store at Gresham Station

Gresham residents are invited to pick up a pair of warm socks this weekend as part of a charitable push to distribute almost 50,000 pairs to nonprofit organizations and community members in need.

Swing by Gresham Station between 8 and 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the old Lane Bryant Store to get a donation. About 5,000 pairs of socks will be passed out, with each person able to receive two pairs.

The distribution is helmed by local businesswoman Sue Piazza, who took over ownership of Bombas socks from the Oregon Blind Veterans Association because of that group's concerns around COVID-19.

She has been storing the socks in an empty storefront at Gresham Station thanks to a partnership with Harsch Investment Properties. Socks have already been donated to the Gresham Salvation Army, My Father's House, SnowCap Community Charities, Birch Community Services, the city of Gresham Homeless Services Team and East Hill Church.
