Two teens dead after Gresham crash
Two youths have died after a serious accident Friday night in Gresham that involved a car with six teenagers crossing the centerline and crashing head-on into a pickup.
Around 8:50 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, Gresham police officers responded to reports of an accident at the corner of Southeast Linden Drive and Butler Road. The driver of the teen's car died at the scene, while one of his teenage passengers died en route to the hospital. According to police, two other teenagers remain in critical condition while the last two have been released from the hospital.
The driver of the pickup was also transported to the hospital, but has since been released. Police said he has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
A witness who saw the aftermath of the crash and attempted to provide aid, said the teen's car appeared to be speeding and lost control before crossing the centerline. That person said the city should look into speed bumps and other traffic control devices to slow people down along that stretch of roadway.
Police have not announced an official cause of the crash.
