Clackamas County issued an emergency declaration Saturday, Feb. 13, as winter weather continued to batter the region.

County Commission Chair Tootie Smith is seeking resources from outside the local government to remove downed debris from roads and restore communications.

So far, more than 105,000 residents lack electricity, with the power outage shutting down many county buildings and the "county's network," per a news release.

The emergency declaration specifies that the Clackamas County government campus in Oregon City off Beavercreek Road "is without power and generators have frozen, which is causing network and communication issues. Several cities are without power and internet communications."

The emergency declaration is now in effect countywide, noting that winter weather is expected through Sunday at the very least.

"Countless roads are closed due to downed trees or impassable conditions," according to a news release. "Our crews are taking an assessment of the roads while at the same time working to clear the snow on routes primarily used for emergency services. We are asking residents and visitors to avoid travel and watch for falling trees and ice outside."
