Virtual event hopes to raise thousands for Gresham Soroptimists, Shooting Star Adventures, Women Sew Global Foundation

PMG FILE PHOTO - 100+ Women Who Care East County — pictured pre-pandemic — have been supporting nonprofit organizations for years.A group of dedicated East Multnomah County women are gathering virtually once again to uplift and celebrate three nonprofit organizations — Soroptimist International of Gresham, Shooting Star Adventures and Women Sew Global Foundation.

100+ Women Who Care East County is a group of forward-thinking community members who normally gather four times a year for meetings in which they learn about, and donate to nonprofit groups. Each member cuts a check for $100, combining for a significant donation.

With COVID, meeting had to be moved to a digital format, but 100 Women continued to make a difference. Last year, they raised $13,000 in an hour, sharing the funds between Meals on Wheels, SnowCap Community Charities and Birch Community Services.

The public is invited to join in the latest donation push, which will be held virtually at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, May 6. All the money raised will be shared between the three nonprofit organizations. Register for the gathering, and learn more, at

The three nonprofit organizations being highlighted by 100+ Women Who Care East County are Soroptimist International of Gresham, Shooting Star Adventures and Women Sew Global Foundation.

The Soroptomists are a volunteer organization that provide women and girls with access to education and training. The Gresham-branch is famed for its annual Teddy Bear Parade and the Live Your Dream Awards, a tear-jerker luncheon that awards scholarships to women who have overcome adversity. Learn more at

Shooting Star Adventures is all about bringing the community closer to nature, with recreational and educational opportunities that get people of all ages into the great outdoors. The group teaches outdoor skills, hosts day camps, and many offerings that are geared toward children. Learn more at

Women Sew Global Foundation is creating a sewing collective among women and girls to empower them through economic and leadership growth.
