Local vendors, farmers offer fresh flowers, fruit, crafts, food and more every Saturday in the Gresham Arts Plaza

PMG FILE PHOTO - The Gresham Farmers Market is back this weekend!This weekend, downtown Gresham will be filled with local produce, fruit, flowers, nursery stock, handcrafted food and baked goods, beer, crafts and more, as the Gresham Farmers Market returns for the 2021.

The market will open, rain or shine, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, in the Gresham Arts Plaza, Northeast Third Street and Northeast Hood Avenue. The market will close at 2 p.m. There will be a new layout showcasing returning and new vendors. Visitors are asked to wear masks and mind distances while enjoying the market. Dogs are also welcome.

Some of the vendors who will be there for the opening weekend include Cheeky Little Piggy Farm; Fern Hill Farms; GX Family Garden; Burns Farm at Aldersyde; RJ Farms; Little Brown House Herbary; Martinez Family Farm; Miniforest; Slice of Heaven Farm; Sugar Maple Swine; Wild Roots Pantry; ProFarm Orchards, LLC; White Owl Acres; Bee Happy Greenhouse; and Cheng's Farm.

The Hoppy Brewer will have brews, Champman's BBQ will be smoking meat, and 3 Guys Grilling will have sausages and hot dogs.

The nonprofit farmers market was established in 1986, and spent its first season in the parking lot of Gresham City Hall. The Gresham Farmers Market moved around for several years, before settling in a downtown parking lot on Northwest Third Avenue and Miller Street from 1999-2018. Their permanent home is now in the Arts Plaza.

If you miss opening weekend, do not fret. The market will return every Saturday through October.
