Troutdale skate shop sets grand opening
A couple that has been working to share their passion for skateboarding is set to open the doors to Troutdale's first skate shop next month.
Owners Kerri and Tyler Cole are hosting a grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 5, for Eastside Roll-In Skateboards & Skate Supply. The business is located at the Troutdale Art Center, 903 E. Historic Columbia River Highway, across from Glenn Otto Community Park. The event will offer hot dogs, chips and drinks for purchase, along with skateboards, shirts, door prizes and more.
The opening will also be a way to spur the couple's dream of opening a skatepark in Troutdale, with 25% of all proceeds going to the effort Tyler first pitched to city leadership six years ago. The goal is to create a local place for people to come together around a shared love for skating. One potential location for the "Skatespot" is the northeast corner of Columbia Park, 1900 S.W. Cherry Park Road.
In addition to the grand opening, the couple will be participating in Troutdale's First Friday, which is making a triumphant return on June 4 after a year's pause.
