Fire officials said ban, now through Friday, July 23, has helped curb blazes throughout city.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Fireworks are banned in Gresham through Friday, July 23. Gresham is extending the ban on fireworks usage through Friday, July 23, because of the continued high temperatures and dry conditions.

Gresham City Council initially announced the ban on the use of fireworks, legal and illegal, at the beginning of the month. The extension was announced Friday afternoon, July 9.

According to Gresham Fire & Emergency Services, the ban has been effective in reducing the number of fires typically reported in Gresham this time of year.

Gresham Police can issue fines of up to $2,500 for any violations of the city's emergency order.

Report firework usage by calling the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
