Parking space dispute leads to fatal Gresham stabbing
Gresham police have arrested the suspect in a fatal stabbing over an apartment complex parking space on Friday afternoon.
Shawn Hamilton, 53, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on one charge of second-degree murder.
The victim is identified as Robert "Randy" Ricketts, 68.
According to the Gresham Police Department, officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the Hogan Woods Apartments located at 1645 N.E. 20th St. at 4:26 p.m. Sept. 3. When they arrived, the officers located one injured male victim and one male suspect.
Ricketts was transported to a local hospital but later died of his injuries. An autopsy by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner determined the manner of death to be homicide.
Officers learned a disturbance over a parking space at the location led to the stabbing. Detectives believe several additional witnesses to the altercation have not been contacted or interviewed by police.
