The at-large position on the Gresham-Barlow School Board was made vacant by the resignation of former member Carla Piluso.

PMG FILE - The appointed individual will serve on the board until June 30, 2023. The Gresham-Barlow School Board is seeking applicants to fill a temporary position on the board created by the resignation of Carla Piluso. The seat is an at-large position and can be filled by any eligible resident of the district.

Applicants must have resided in the district for one year prior to the date of the appointment and must be registered voters. Employees of the Gresham-Barlow School district are ineligible to serve. For more information about board service, review the Guide for Oregon School Board Candidates.

The appointee will serve until June 30, 2023. In May 2023, an election will be held to elect an individual to serve the remaining portion of the unexpired term, which began July 1, 2021, and ends June 30, 2025.

Applicants must send a letter of interest that provides the following:

• A brief personal history.

• A history of public service, particularly as it relates to education and community activity.

• Their thoughts related to the two or three biggest issues facing the Gresham-Barlow School District during the next 12-18 months and how they would address them.

Letters of interest must be submitted by 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at the superintendent's office, 1331 N.W. Eastman Parkway.

Candidate interviews will take place in October 2021 in the Partnership Room at the Center for Advanced Learning, 1484 N.W. Civic Drive.
