Suspect at large after Monday, Sept. 13, traffic stop near Southeast 136th and Southeast Powell

COURTESY PHOTO: PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU - Weapons and body armor were seized during an East Portland traffic stop early Monday morning, Sept. 13. Police are seeking a suspect who fled an early morning Monday, Sept. 13, traffic stop in which a rifle and body armor were seized.

At 1:55 a.m. Portland Police Bureau East Precinct officers stopped a BMW near Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard. The driver fled from the traffic stop on foot, eluding officers who were unable to locate the suspect. Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, police found a short-barreled rifle, body armor, magazines, ammunition, a baton and a handheld radio.

The incident remains under investigation as police continue to seek the suspect.
