Accomplished author, journalist Emilly Prado will read from her new book at virtual event

Hood Community College (MHCC) will honor Hispanic and Latinx communities contributions to the literary arts by offering a free online event from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

The program will include readings of literature by students, staff and faculty, as well as a special appearance by local author, journalist and community organizer, Emilly Prado.

Prado will share excerpts from her new book, "Funeral for Flaca", discuss some personal reflections, present a brief writing workshop and open up a Q&A.

Prado is an award-winning multimedia journalist, and her writing and photographs have appeared in more than 30 publications including Eater, The Oregonian, and National Public Radio (NPR).
