Registration for the Sam Barlow High School Alumni Association (SBHSAA) third annual Hit The Barlow Trail 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run is now open. There is an in-person event and a virtual event. Register for the run online or at the event.

Proceeds will benefit SBHSAA student scholarships. This past year the scholarship raised $6,000, which was distributed to 5 Sam Barlow High School seniors to help with their post-high school education.

The Kids Fun Run will start at 8:40 a.m leading to the 5k at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Sam Barlow High School on 5105 SE 302nd Ave, Gresham.

The kids run is free for children under 10-years-old. Parents can accompany their child as they race once around the Sam Barlow track (a quarter mile).

The in-person 5k is $25 and the virtual option is $30. Bib pick-up and same day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on race day and end at 8:45 a.m. All participants and or guardians need to sign a waiver either online or on race day.

The race will start at Barlow Stadium and the course will go through the school's cross country trail. The race route is marked and volunteers are also there to show the path. A track option is also available.

The first 70 people to register will receive a free long sleeve T-shirt, a race bib, and a finisher's award.

The event will also have booths, vendors and other activities for the entire family.

SBHSAA is also still looking for volunteers for the event. Volunteers will help with pre-race preparations, set-up at the site, during-the-event assistance, and afterward-cleanup and take down. Register online at the group's website.
