My Father's House annual Hoedown fundraiser returns after year-long hiatus

COURTESY PHOTO: MY FATHERS HOUSE - After a year long hiatus, My Fathers Houses Harvest Hoedown fundraiser returns on Oct. 15. Tickets for the annual Harvest Hoedown fundraiser are on sale online, with the proceeds going to My Father's House Community Shelter.

The event will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, at 5003 W. Powell Blvd. Cedarville Lodge, Gresham. Tickets are for those 21-year-old or older.

General admission tickets are $25 each and grant the guest access to a BBQ dinner, live music, line dancing, door prizes, picture booth, raffle and the silent auction. The price will increase to $30 for tickets purchased on the day of the event.

Our Father's House provides homeless families a place to stay, job training and other programs to help struggling East County families.

"This is the first (fundraiser) that we get to do in person," said Andrea Pickett, My Father's House executive director. "The last one we did was in February of 2020, almost a year and half ago."

Although the proceeds are not set to go to any specific project for My Father's House, Pickett is excited to use some of the funds to support the many children that call the shelter home.

"It is not uncommon to have 40 kids here at one time," Pickett said. "I really want them to be able to go outside even when it is raining, so if we can do that would be awesome."

Pickett hopes to expand and add a cover to the facility's playground so the children can have a place to play year-round.
