To help two-time Olympic shot put gold-medalist Ryan Crouser — a Barlow High School graduate — celebrate his 29th birthday on Dec. 18, donations of new and gently used athletics equipment are being collected Dec. 13-18 at these businesses:

     - • Burns Feed Store, 29215 S.E. Orient Drive

• DICK'S Sporting Goods, 700 N.W. Eastman Parkway

• Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce, 1005 N. Main Ave.

• The Gresham Toy Shop, 126 N. Main Ave.

The public is invited to join Crouser during an in-person donation event at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Salvation Army, 194th Avenue and Stark Street. Depending on the number of people who attend the event, it can be held either indoors or outdoors.

Gold medal winners such as Crouser begin their love of sports as kids, but not all children have access to the necessary equipment. All donated equipment will be distributed to children within the local community.
