Who are the East County houseless?
City Councilors from Troutdale, Fairview and Wood Village are teaming up to help people better understand community members who are living without a home in East Multnomah County.
The "Losing Your Place to Live" forum will include a large list of speakers who will touch on many aspects of houselessness in East Multnomah County and what folks can do to help.
The speakers include Lt. Doug Asboe, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office HOPE Team; Molly Frye, Reynolds School District; Andy Miller, Human Solutions; and a speaker from El Programa Hispano.
The forum, hosted by Wood Village Mayor Scott Harden and Councilors Sandy Glantz, Wendy Lawton and Jairo Rios-Campos, will run from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Wood Village City Hall, 24200 N.E. Halsey St.
Attendees are asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Spanish language interpretation will also be available.
The goals of the forum are to provide an accurate view of who is houseless, why and what they need; an understanding of the variety of circumstances that lead to houselessness and their daily needs; and data and stories that showcase the specific situation in East Multnomah County.
