Gresham man wanted for drug charges, dangerous driving
Law enforcement is seeking a 31-year-old Gresham man connected to drug crimes across Multnomah County after he successfully, and dangerously, fled during a traffic stop earlier this month.
Christopher Lee Denton is wanted for allegedly distributing fentanyl pills.
Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies approached Denton while he was parked at the corner of Southwest 19th Avenue and West Burnside Street in Portland. After being ordered out of the vehicle, Denton allegedly drove onto the sidewalk and fled east onto Southwest Morrison Street.
Deputies did not pursue due to safety concerns.
Denton allegedly drove in opposing lanes of traffic, sped through red lights and endangered pedestrians. Deputies said at one point he hit and destroyed a set of bike racks at Southwest Morrison Street and Southwest 10th Avenue. He also allegedly struck another vehicle while crossing the Morrison Bridge.
Law enforcement found his abandoned car at the intersection of Southeast Sixth Avenue and Southeast Salmon Street in Portland. Upon searching the vehicle they found a bag of fentanyl pills and a digital scale.
