Celebrating Springwater Trail Class of 2022
There is a tradition at Springwater Trail High School — every graduating senior receives a single, white rose tied with a silver ribbon.
The rose symbolizes the next phase of life, which will be filled with renewal, optimism and adventure. The ribbon reminds each graduate they will forever be a Titan, an individual of great strength, power and promise.
On Wednesday evening, June 15, that power was on display, with just a few happy tears, as school staff, teachers, friends, family and loved ones cheered on the amazing Springwater Trail Class of 2022 during commencement at Barlow High.
"Springwater is a small but powerful community," said Principal Ryan Blaszak. "Tonight is about you and your journeys."
The seniors made their way through the packed auditorium, and there was a senior video crafted by Alexzandria Passow, Evie Arballo, Avery Hansen and Crystel Weber. Many of the students were recognized on the stage for their individual accomplishments.
"Fires, global pandemic, war in Ukraine — somehow we survived and did what we all thought was impossible," said Passow, the Valedictorian. "I learned to stop being who I wasn't — I don't think that would have happened at any other school with any other people."
"These past nine months have been the best I've ever had," echoed Ser Connolly, senior speaker. "Class of 2022 — we have finally made it. Without all of you I would still be a quiet nerd holed up in his room."
Collectively the 36 graduates earned more than $240,000 grants and scholarships. The seniors said that 44% plan to attend college next fall, while 17% are headed to a trade school. And, of course, all the seniors walked across the stage to receive their diplomas and be celebrated one last time as high schoolers with plenty of pomp and circumstance.
"Tonight's ceremony is just one of your many accomplishments," Baszak said. "Congratulations Class of 2022."
