Daniel Rappaport's picture at Upper McCord Creek celebrated during Gorge contest

COURTESY PHOTO: DANIEL RAPPAPORT - An unnamed waterfall at Upper McCord Creek. A Corbett resident was recognized for snapping a photograph of a waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge as part of a regional contest that had folks submit pictures to seven categories.

Daniel Rappaport was awarded in the "Waterfalls" category in the seventh annual Our Gorge Connection photo contest, which was held in celebration of Nature Photography Day, Wednesday, June 15, and the beauty of the Gorge.

His photo was taken at Upper McCord Creek using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

The grand prize photo was taken by Jesenia Robles, of Hood River — while Rappaport also picked up an honorable mention nod for a second photo of the approach to Ponytail Falls. Rappaport received a gift card from contest sponsor Pro Photo Supply as part of winning his category.

In total the photo contest had 528 entries from across the region. Visit to see all the winning photos.
