'Mr. Gresham' celebrates start of downtown scavenger hunt
Gresham's most popular resident swung by a local kids bookstore to kick off a fun community-wide hunt to find his likeness in participating businesses.
This month Todd Kirnan and Maggie Mae's Kids Bookshop are teaming up to create a fund scavenger hunt that takes local kids to businesses throughout downtown Gresham.
Images of Kirnan, aka Mr. Gresham, dressed as the iconic children's book character Waldo, with the red and white striped shirt, can be found in 25 local businesses like Sugar Cubed Cakes, Foxtrot Vintage, Whimsy Burrow and Gresham Bricks & MiniFigs.
When a participate spots a Mr. Gresham sticker, they receive a stamp. Collecting 10 earns a prize; while the few who manage to spot all 25 will be entered into a grand prize drawing.
Anyone can participate in the free contest. Pick up a "Where's Mr. Gresham?" stamp card, with names of all the participating sites, at Maggie Mae's 43 N.W. Third St. There are also 10 Waldos in windows of businesses around downtown that aren't on the passport, leading to bonus prizes.
This is the second year that the hunt has been branded around Kirnan. Before there were two years where Maggie Mae's had participants hunting for Waldo.
The hunt will last throughout July. For more information call 503-512-7493 or visit maggiemaesbooks.com
