Yearbook photos capture Gophers about town, taking classes, attending dances, and more

A Gresham Historical Society volunteer has been cataloguing a series of photographic negatives from the Gresham High School yearbook for an upcoming 50-year reunion.

The photos, which were snapped in the 1950s and 60s, likely were taken to run in the Munhinotu — the Gresham High School senior annual.

Many of the pics were from the 1956-57 school year, and feature Gophers splashing at Blue Lake Regional Park; visiting local shops around town; working in the chemistry lab and shop class; performing a play in the old Gresham theater; and attending a school dance.

Visit the Gresham History Museum, 410 N. Main Ave., to see more photos and artifacts from the town's past.
