Fairview man arrested for shooting death in 'Old Town'
A 41-year-old Fairview man is facing a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a man in a Fairview home Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Anthony Tibbits was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a second-degree murder charge after he allegedly attempted to re-enter the crime scene during the investigation a day after the incident.
The shooting took place around 7 p.m. in a home in the 600 block of Lincoln Street of Fairview's old town. Upon arrival, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office deputies found the victim, later identified as 67-year-old Danny Dee Barber, lying in the backyard. They learned a woman with mobility issues was still inside the home and needed help getting out, and that the suspect kept weapons inside the house.
The East Metro SWAT team responded, and cleared the house, at which point the perimeter was reduced. At 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, Tibbits attempted to re-enter the home. He was taken into custody without incident.
