Quartet of community meetings to bring voters together to discuss future funding needs

COURTESY PHOTO: CORBETT FIRE - The Springdale Fire Station will host one of the meetings. Corbett volunteer firefighters are inviting folks to grab a cup of coffee and chat about a funding ask that will be mulled by voters during the November general election.

Throughout September and October the Corbett Fire Department is holding a series of meetings to discuss the Corbett Fire Department bond measure to answer any questions and explain how the money will be used.

The $4.5 million bond ask is estimated to cost $0.65 per $1,000, with a property owner of $300,000 paying $16.25 per month. That money would expand and renovate three district stations; construct five underground cisterns for water storage where hydrants and drafting is not available; construct a training facility to comply with national standards; and fund the purchase of firefighting equipment, a water tender for the Springdale Station, and a replacement rescue apparatus.

The meetings:

- 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Corbett Fire Station, 36930 E. Historic Columbia River Highway

- 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Springdale Fire Station, 31727 E. Historic Columbia River Highway

- 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Aims Station, 40755 S.E. Gordon Creek Road

- 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Bridal Veil Lodge, 46650 E. Historic Columbia River Highway
