Reynolds teacher arrested in Bend for several sex charges against a minor
Reynolds High School social studies teacher Edward Hernandez-Corchado was arrested Friday, Nov. 1, under suspicion of multiple sex crimes.
Hernandez-Corchado is charged with online sexual corruption of a child, attempted rape, attempted sodomy, attempted encouraging child sex abuse, attempted contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor and luring a minor for sexual conduct.
The Bend Police arrested the Troutdale teacher after an investigation into online sexual predators.
The investigation began Friday, Nov. 4, when an officer engaged in online messaging with the 26-year-old man from Portland, later identified as Edward Hernandez-Corchado.
The officer told Hernandez-Corchado that she was a 15-year-old girl from Central Oregon. Hernandez-Corchado continued contacting the undercover officer, making sexual statements. Hernandez-Corchado then began making plans to meet up in person with the undercover officer at Target in Bend to engage in sexual acts with her.
On Friday, Nov. 11, the undercover officer and Hernandez-Corchado arranged to meet at a Target at 8 p.m. so he could take her to a hotel. Police allege that Hernandez-Corchado specifically traveled to Central Oregon intending to commit sexual acts with an underage girl. When Hernandez-Corchado arrived at the store, he was arrested and taken into custody.
Hernandez-Corchado was transported to the Deschutes County Jail. Bend Police believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tip line at 503-988-0560.
