LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Untrained, equipped workers put in peril
I am concerned about the recent announcement by Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury, who mandated that county employees such as library employees are now to be used as workers in a homeless shelter set up at the Portland Convention Center, with virtually no training or protective devices such as masks or gloves.
How does this follow guidelines that Kate Brown has requested, that we remain home and practice social distancing of 3-6 feet?
These employees are not trained health care workers, some of whom may also be carrying the virus and not yet ill.
