Letter to the editor: It's important to consider both sides of the story
I would like to thank Amy Evans for her "My View" piece regarding Gresham Deputy City Manager Corey Falls.
I have been following The Outlook's articles about the complaint he has made about the racism he's experienced while an employee of the city. There are always two sides to a story and Amy presented the other side.
It's very disturbing and sad to find out that no police union members participated with the Equity Action Team when over 100 other city employees did.
To me this speaks volumes about the priorities of our mostly white Gresham police union. Gresham continues to become a very diverse community and this seems the ideal "bridge" to a better understanding of our changing community.
Rather then just saying "I'm not a racist," our valued police department should show the people of Gresham what they are collectively doing to demonstrate this.
It sounds like the Equity Action Team no longer exists and this is a tragedy. We can do better.
