The writer takes issue with Mt. Hood Community College for its policy of prohibiting community-oriented promotional signs.

On the southeast corner of Kane Drive and Stark Streets sits the Mt. Hood Community College campus. And on that corner if you put up a sign advertising a garage sale, school or church car wash, wedding event, stand down for veterans, church bazars, community park event, scouting event, etc., it will be taken down.

If you ask if you can put up a small sign, they will tell you "no" because if they do it for you then they have to do it for everyone else.

Businesses are struggling to stay afloat, especially the restaurant business.

So how is this fair that MHCC allows one restaurant to advertise that they are open for business?

Is this restaurant better than so many others that are in the area and open for business, but don't curry favor.
