Letter: These candidates understand importance of parks
I have worked for two decades on parks issues in Gresham in my previous role at Portland Audubon and with Lee Dayfield on the Nadaka Park project. Recently I attended a Gresham City Council candidate forum on parks and was super impressed by the sophistication and ideas of new candidates who really understand that we build a safe, prosperous community by investing in the parks and recreation system.
Voters now have real choices in candidates who understand parks are an essential part of a complete, healthy community.
Dave Dyk (Position 5) has a clear strategy for prioritizing parks and the budget experience to make it happen.
Dina DiNucci (Position 1) clearly understands how our parks and nature are an essential part of a healthy and affordable community, not mere frills or amenities.
Eddy Morales (Mayor) brings fresh ideas and reforms like participatory budgeting that will give the community voice and vote in shaping new park investments.
Vince Jones-Dixon (Position 3) deeply understands that investments in much needed youth and parks programming are a more just and financially sustainable strategy for the future. I strongly urge Gresham voters to support these candidates in the upcoming election.
