The Cruizin' The Block car show, formerly Rockin' Round the Block, filled three parking lots and many streets throughout downtown with cars of all makes, models, shapes and sizes Saturday, Aug. 10. The event was organized by Jan Weston, Jerry Lyons and David Jothen. They stepped in to take over running the show and prevent it from ending — also prompting the name change.

Ron Ruedi and the Hurricanes performed throughout the day, a vendor row had car supplies and models, and kids enjoyed free face painting and a balloon artist. There were more than 50 awards and trophies up for the entrants, raffle prizes, and a Saturday Night cruise on Main Avenue.

Proceeds benefit Mt. Hood Community College's automotive program. In the 20 years the car show has been held, it has raised more than $100,000.
