Gopher soloists soar at voice competition
Singers from Gresham High School won the top spots in five of the six categories in the recent District 2 solo voice competition and a Barlow High School student won in the sixth category.
"It has been a tough year for choir because of COVID and we're so happy for some success," said Janine Kirstein, the Gopher's long-time choir director.
In the bass voice section, Brodie Joseph sang his way to first place with Michael Tevs following him in the second spot.
Natalie Herrada was first in soprano and Hailey Beegle was second.
Jaydn Altorfer earned first place in alto voice, while Kyra Cereghino picked up second.
First place mezzo soprano was Kyra McCloud.
Skyler Bolster earned the top spot in tenor voice.
Johnny Pukay sang his way to second place in the baritone section.
Barlow's Andrew Schroeder took first in the baritone voice section of the competition.
District 2 is made up of Gresham, Barlow, David Douglas, Reynolds, Parkrose, Centennial, and Sandy high schools.
