The Wildcats put up 21 points in the third quarter to seal the victory

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Gresham running back Sirgio Hoffman is met by a crowd of Westview tacklers. Gresham had its chances Friday night against Westview, but struggled to capitalize on mistakes during a 49-28 loss to the Wildcats.

The Gophers kept the game tied early by blocking a field goal at the end of the first quarter. But the team’s ensuing drive ended with a fumble, which Westview would turn into a quick touchdown and a 14-7 lead.

Later in the first half, Gresham’s Trevor Nannini picked off a pass near the goal line and raced through white shirts for a long return. But a series of incomplete passes talled the Gophers near midfield.

After a Gresham punt, Westview receiver Jacob Short turned a short catch into a 42-yard gain.

The Wildcats were knocking on the door again.

Fullback Trevor Bovero found his way into the end zone on a 5-yard bulldoze through the middle.

The Wildcats put the game out of reach with three more touchdowns in the third quarter.
