The Scots crown two champions and beat runner-up West Linn by almost 30 points

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - David Douglas sophomore Tristin Molinari tries to escape the grasp of Gresham rookie Izaiah Duran on his way to a 4-2 win in the 132-pound finale Saturday.TROUTDALE — David Douglas ran away with the Regional wrestling title last weekend, piling up 268.5 points over the two-day tournament to hold off runner-up West Linn by almost 30 points.

Tristin Molinari highlighted the Scots charge by taking the 132-pound bracket. He pinned his first three opponents before knocking off Gresham rookie Izaiah Duran 4-2 in the championship bout.

Molinari took a 4-0 lead into the third period and survived a throw to his back with 1:08 remaining to earn the title.

Osawaru Odighizuwa scored David Douglas’ other championship with a 7-2 decision over Kyle Anderegg of Clackamas at 220 pounds.

Teammates Thomas Ayala (182), Andrew Curry (106) and Quentin Jamieson (113) had runner-up finishes in their brackets.

Centennial led East County with three champions, highlighted by Michael McGuire with a 7-4 decision in the 285-pound bout. He shifted his weight and crashed down on top of Canby’s Alejandro Sandoval for the clinching takedown and near fall at the end of the second period.

The Eagles also got titles from Artur Simpson (195) and Justin Lee (138).

Gresham junior Colby Winnett (160) was the other East County champion.
