|David Douglas Pirates ... 6 innings|
WILSONVILLE — Tyson Goodall sent a single into the right-field corner in the second at-bat of the game, but little did the David Douglas Pirates know that it would be their final hit of the game.
Goodall turned his perfectly-placed shot into a scoring opportunity when he found his way over to third base before a ground out left him stranded.
The Pirates would be unable to solve Tigard Twins starter Andrew Carter, who retired the Pirates in order four times, on Tigard's way to a 10-0 win to start the Oregon Independent Baseball Association Futures tournament Thursday morning.
The Twins broke the game open in the third inning when a series of bang-bang plays fell in its favor. Tigard kept the inning alive and produced five runs before it was over, highlighted by a three-run triple into the left-field corner.
Tigard would put up two runs in each the fouth and sixth innings to put the 10-run rule in play.
The Pirates finished second in their division with an 8-3-1 league record.
Tigard advances to play either Gresham or Barlow in a quarterfinal game at 4 p.m. today with the semifinals set for 10 a.m. Saturday and the championship game to follow at 3:30 p.m.
