Organizers looking for players for the annual Oregon City vs. West Linn alumni game

The annual game, a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis, is scheduled for Aug. 19 at Hillsboro Stadium.Recent Reynolds High graduate Austin Gibbs is not only joining up in the Battle for the Bridge rivalry, he has been named team captain for one of the sides in this West Linn vs. Oregon City summer football showdown.

For the 17-year-old Gibbs, the chance to participate in this year's game means a lot. In addition to his love of football — he was a wide receiver and defensive back for the Raiders last fall — Gibbs has cystic fibrosis.

"I saw this on the news a few years ago and I thought it was really cool because nobody knows about CF," said Gibbs, who will quarterback and captain one of this year's teams.

The seventh annual game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 19, at Hillsboro Stadium and costs $100 per player (the cost covers football gear rental except shoes).
